Upcoming Area Bridal and Event Shows

Planning an Event?  You want to know about this!

The holidays are not only a time of gift giving and eating excessively, but is also the time to declare your love and share in that joy with friends and family.  That is why most engagements take place around Christmas and New Years.  And why most bridal shows take place in January and February.  There are some notable shows that are approaching that I’d like to mention.  Whether you are engaged or not, it is a great opportunity to see some beautiful venues and support our local event professionals, not to mention the tasty food and cake to sample.

Before you cheer for your favorite football team, consider visiting the Inn at the Olde Silk Mill on Princess Anne Street in downtown Fredericksburg for their first Bridal Show in the newly renovated Silk Mill.  Yes, it is on Super Bowl Sunday, but the hours are Noon-5pm and will get you home before kickoff.  Over 50 vendors will be in attendance; featured vendors and sponsors are Salon 730, Cakes by Z, RJ’s Music, Occasions by M&K, The Wedding Planner Magazine and FXBG Wedding and the Event Pros.  Show Info:  Feb. 5th, 12pm-5pm. There is no fee to attend; RSVPs are preferred but Walk-Ins are welcome.  Address: 1707 Princess Anne Street, Fredericksburg, VA 22401.

Can’t get you out of the house on Super Bowl Sunday?  Try to make it to the Big Day Bridal and Event Expo on February 19th.  A larger event comes with a larger price tag, fees begin at $7/person if you reserve your ticket online, $8 at the door.  With over 100 vendors participating in this show, you will leave with an abundance of information.  Expect more brides and competition for vendor’s attention.  Therefore, come prepared with a short list of questions and a writing pad for notes.  You will meet so many people, that you will forget who made the best first impression (or tastiest cake). Show Info: Feb. 19th, 11am-5pm.  Walk-Ins welcome. Address: 2371 Carl D Silver Pkwy, Fredericksburg, VA 22401.  Contact:  Valerie Ballentine, 540.548.5555, ext. 109, vballentine@bmg1.com.

So whether you are planning a wedding, private party, corporate function or would just like to come out and support our local event professionals, come out to one or BOTH of these great shows!!

Wedding Trends: Part 1

It is the beginning of 2012 which means new trends in the wedding industry. These new popular trends are Vintage Romance, Fantasy Princess, and Hollywood Glam. All three trends give brides an amazing way to express themselves with their individual characteristics.

This week we will give you tips on how to create the Vintage Romance theme at your event.  We absolutely love this postmodern vibe that blends the past with present.  When thinking of decor try to use fun colors such as ivory, gold and pastels. Stevenson Ridge has seen this trend work with soft pinks and greens. This trend is very popular with DIY decorations using lace and fabrics that match the color scheme.  Popular table decor includes burlap and new moss table runners!  The wedding gown for this theme is a simple dress with a little touch of lace and a grosgrain sash of your choice of color.  Have fun with your accessories and look into grandma's jewelry box for something with an antique feel!
